Review: More than Words Volume 6
More than Words Volume 6 is a result of the More than Words Program from Harlequin.• Provide financial assistance to these important charities.
• Engage employees, authors and readers and the general public in worthy causes and provide opportunities for them to make a difference.
This anthology collection by 5 of today’s best selling authors including: Joan Johnston, Robyn Carr, Christina Skye, Rochelle Alers and Maureen Child are all original stories based upon the real lives of 5 outstanding women. These ladies are people who have gone above and beyond and truly made a difference in their communities and to others the world over!
They show us that little by little and one person at a time, we can make a difference and make the world we live in a much brighter and better place. These heartwarming and inspiring stories show how the lives of one woman can touch, inspire and truly change this world we live in and the lives of countless others in a positive way. This is a book that will leave you feeling empowered and uplifted after you turn the last page.
I was sent this book by Harlequin to review and help pass on the word about this wonderful program and series and I am so happy that they gave me the opportunity to do this because its truly a beautiful book and these are stories that every woman can relate too, and draw inspiration from. They sparked ideas in my own mind of how I can help out and change this world for the better. Each of us has the power within ourselves to make a difference if only we are willing to stand up and do so. There are countless opportunities that each of us has if we only open our eyes and take up the challenge. The women who have been featured in this set of short stories are women just like you and me who with a little elbow grease and a lot of faith truly made a difference. We should all aspire to do the same both for ourselves and for the world we live in and will be leaving behind to our children and grandchildren!
Anyone who loves a feel good and uplifting stories will love this one. And although the stories are shorts they leave a lasting impression that resonates long after you finish reading. I highly recommend and applaud this wonderful project and book! Please do check out the More Than Words program and get your book today! :)

Review Sinful by Charlotte Featherstone
This book caught my eye the very first time I set eyes on the sumptuously gorgeous cover! This is the story of Matthew Lord Wallingford, now for those of you that read Addicted you will recognize Matthew as he was Raeburn's best friend and featured in it. I did not read addicted before this one but I found that it read just fine as a stand alone.Matthew the dark and mysterious Earl of Wallingford is quite the Rake and womanizer and let’s just say he’s the BAD boy times about 10, but when he is robbed and left in an alley blooded and beaten he is not ready for the tenderness that he finds at the hands of the nurse that tends him and brings him back to health and life in more ways than one. Jane Rankin is an independent and strong minded woman she thinks that she is content with her life as a lady’s companion and a nurse at the hospital by night. She knows that she is no beauty and is considered by society as being plain behind her serviceable dresses, her spectacles and her hair done up in a severe bun most of the time. But Jane does dream of some day finding love. She never thought she would find it in the devastatingly handsome patient that is brought in to her ward bleeding and incoherent. Knowing him only as Matthew she has no idea of his true identity, and he cannot see her as his head wound and a bad laceration over his eye forces him to wear a bandage over his eyes. However Jane’s gentle and soothing touch and her soft angelic voice call to Matthew in a way that no other woman’s ever has. His tortured and tormented spirit is soothed by this angel of mercy and he longs to draw her closer and let her be a balm to both is body and his soul. However can the attraction and desire that begins to build between the two last when their true identities are known and they are able to see each other for who they truly are ?
I won’t go into more detail as if I did I would surely give away something in this complex, haunting, and passionate story.
Now this is one book that had me wrestling with myself back and forth as to what I truly felt for it. At times it made my heart soar and at others I truly almost loathed Wallingford. He is truly a very tortured and traumatized soul however he is also callus and cold in the extreme in several parts of the book that had me wanting to see Jane slap the arrogance from his face rather than kiss him. Ms. Featherstone has made a VERY complex story in Sinful. The story has many layers as does its main characters. Both Jane and Matthew have their dark secrets and pasts that overshadow them and I did love how they each were able to find peace and redemption in the other.
That being said though I will say that I thought that some aspects of the book didn’t quite live up to the way I wanted to see the ending for Jane and Matthew. Now I got to read this book via an ARC from NetGalley and the author states on the last page that the epilogue the true happily ever after scene it seems will be posted on the Internet on her site on May the 2nd and maybe that will tie up some of the ends that I thought should have been addressed and put to rest....... however still something just didn’t sit right with me about the ending so far, but not sure about that as there were aspects of Jane’s character that she gave up and changed to be with Matthew much more so than he did for her. I can't go into as much detail on those views as I would like as again it would involve major spoilers but I would be happy to discuss them with anyone that would like to that has read the book! :)
While I did enjoy the book I have struggled majorly with what to give this one as a rating. I have teetered back and forth and finally have decided to give it a 4 because there are parts that were simply heart wrenching and had me clinging to the pages and other times that had me breathless, but I would have liked to have seen Wallingford address several aspects very differently than he did. There was one time I dearly wanted to throttle the arrogant jerk myself lol. Even though he was a tortured hero that was no excuse for some of the things he did and said to Jane I thought. Still it was a very good book and had me riveted to see what would happen so I give it a solid four hearts, but can't give it above a four because to be truthful Jane deserved better than she got in many ways by the end in my humble opinion. I do look forward to reading more of Ms. Featherstone’s novels she certainly has a strong and passionate voice. I hope to see more of that in her future novels.

This book was provided to me via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Lusting for covers! One photo doth not an outstanding cover make...
Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme, held on Sunday, that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers. Here's what you do:
1- Take the graphic (left) to use on your post. Remember to give credit to the original host The Book Queen!
2- Choose your own book cover that you've fallen in "lust" with in the past week. It can be new, old, a reprint, or even a book that is not yet out-- it's all up to you! If you find a cover that catches your eye, then showcase it on your blog, and let others see the pretty covers out there.
3- Copy the direct link to your own L4C post into the comment section on my post (when in doubt, use this link and then scroll down to find the post), and allow others to come and see what you picked!
(OPTIONAL):
4- Besides posting the picture of the book cover you chose, it's nice to provide the book summary, title, author, or a website link for the book. It's not required, but it can help you readers' to add more books to their own list! A brief "Why I choose this cover" is also appreciated, but not required.
My choice for this week's cover is VAMPIRE VENDETTA by Alexis Morgan
Hell hath no fury like a passion-hungry vampire bent on justice in Alexis Morgan’s sexy new saga
As the lone survivor of his vampire clan, Seamus Fitzhugh lives only for revenge. And now that he’s infiltrated the compound of his enemy his chance has come…until he rescues a stunning hybrid from certain death. Megan Perez is a woman on the run from her own demons, and she’s a distraction that could cost them both their lives. But the passion that burns between them is too hot to ignore, and not even the threat of danger can keep them apart.
Now their fates are intertwined--for better or worse--as they risk everything to experience the ultimate sensual release as evil closes in all around them. Seamus must weigh how far he will go in the pursuit of vengeance…or love.
One photo doth not an outstanding cover make...
I have to say that the people that do the Silhoutte Nocturne covers are immensely talented! They are continuously putting out some of the most stunning covers out there today. I mean anyone and I do mean anyone with even the most basic knowledge of a photo editing program can put out a cover that is a couple or a mans chest(while believe me some of the pics are gorgeous, but lets be truthful the photographer was the artist on these not the cover people in that type of cover) with the name of the book on it, it takes no real talent to do that just a good photo and PSP. As an artist myself I have been asked to do them both ways.
Now if the person commissioning the cover specifically asks that it be only one photo with no other additions you have no choice however I always found those covers lacking in that added punch of awe because of it. Any photo can be enhanced in composition by anything as simple as a wisp of mist or a tone change to add extra atmosphere to it. Nocturne hasn't forgotten this! These covers are simply beautiful they have layers to them not just a flat image, the colors, the placements and effects they have added in on the Nocturne covers really make them stand out and draw the eye. I always notice these covers wherever they are first because of their beauty and outstanding artwork. Bravo Silhouette Nocturne! Keep those great covers and books coming! :)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:Grab your current read

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The Prodigal Returns
Well I gave you all a week away from me... did ya miss me? I come bearing a hunky gift! Hope you like him. ;)Now the DH was on vacation last week in honor of our 12th wedding anniversary and I made a promise not to be on the internet for the whole week so we could spend some quality time together. Now that was veryyyyy hard for me because I'm on the internet constantly most of the time lol. But barring some eye twitching withdrawals I made it and he is back to work starting today so here I am woohoo lol.
We went to the Smokie Mountains to celebrate our 12 years whew I tell ya it doesn't seem like it has been that long at ALL! But I am happy that we have made it this long that's a pretty big feat in todays society I guess, tis a shame but it's true.
I was actually able to get reservations for us to stay in the exact cabin that we spent our honeymoon in! If you all ever need a great place to stay while visiting the Smokies I HIGHLY recommend Wild Mountain Rose Log Cabins they are family run by Connie and Gary Millar and they are super sweet people as well as having goregous cabins with the works jacuzzi and all and a beautiful Mountain view!!!

Now while this sounds super duper romantic lol and it was in many ways I have to confess that our 10 year old son came with us ROFL. We just couldn't afford to go on a family vacation this time and go for our anniversary so we kind of decided to combine the two and he went with us and had an absolutle ball! He said it's "OUR" anniversary Mom! LOL And while I did miss having some total privacy with the DH it was awesome having him along and to see him enjoy himself so much. We had 3 great days up there but we did have to come home a bit early because Stephen caught a nasty stomach bug up there poor little fella he is doing good now though thank God. We had a great time off but I will say I'm glad to get back home too I just don't think you can relax anywhere as well as you can at home can ya? :)
So I'm trying to get back in the routine again and that's where I disappeared to it may take me a few days to get back to normal but I hope to have the review for Sinful by Charolette Featherstone up in the next few days. This one is good but I tell ya I'm about halfway through it at the moment and right now I would so love to smack the heck out of Wallingford for the way he's acting lol. I know he will redeem himself I'm sure but at the moment he's being a total butt! But what man isn't at times right?
Hope you all had a great one and see ye tomorrow Lord willing!

Happy Easter to you All!
Review: Highland Surrender by Dawn Halliday
Blurb:From the author of "wickedly erotic romance" (Monica McCarty) comes the tale of a Highland lass and an earl with dark desires.
Determined to put his roguish past behind him, the Earl of Camdonn arranges to marry the proper Lady Elizabeth. But when an accident lands the Earl in the expert hands of a beautiful Highland medicine woman, all well-laid plans are thrown to the wind- and, just as in the old days, his passions run high...
Ceana MacNab has terrible luck with men. Resigning herself to the healing arts, she has steeled her heart against love. Then fate sends Cam her way. Even though he's a well-bred Earl-and Ceana a low-born Highlander-their all-consuming passion may lead the way to lasting bliss.
Highland Surrender is the second book by Ms. Halliday in her Highland series. Those of you that read her first book Highland Obsession will recognize Cam The Earl of Camdonn from it. (Now I hasten to say that I did not get a chance to read Highland Obsession before diving into this one but it did not hurt the story at all it was fine as a stand alone. I had no trouble at all following along with the story and what a story it is!)
The Earl of Camdonn is determined that he has turned from his reckless and wicked ways and he has vowed that he will be the kind of Laird that his people need and that will make them proud! He has traveled to England and procured for himself the perfect wife. And it would seem that he has found just that in the very well connected Lady Elizabeth Grant the well bred and genteel daughter of a Duke. The match being blessed and recommended by both the Duke of Argyle and the King as well, Cam is positive he has found the perfect bride with whom to rule his lands and beget his rightful heir! But on the way back to the Highlands he and his party are set upon by highwaymen and Cam trying to lead the bandits away from the other coach carrying his betrothed Lady Elizabeth leads the bandits indeed from them, but he is shot and gravely wounded in the process. It seems that fate has other plans for him though when he is found by Ceana MacNab the Highland healer of the Glen. Ceana nurses Cam back to health but soon passionate feelings start to grow between the beautiful healer and the wounded Earl. But Cam is betrothed to Elizabeth and even though his body burns for Ceana he tries desperately to subdue his feelings and to do the right thing. But can true passion and could it be even more possibly love? Truly be denied even for what seems to be all the right reasons.
There are many layers to this wonderful tale including much more to Lady Elizabeth and her past that meet the eye. Then there is the mysterious and deadly curse that lies upon all the MacNab women (including Ceana) saying that no MacNab woman can ever marry. Plus an evil Duke, another sexy kilted male suitor that wants one of the women for his own and much, much more! This one has it all!!!! And don’t forget it has so much heat coming from the pages that I was lucky my sleeves didn’t catch on fire! ;)
I was totally enthralled by this story from the very start and I read it in no time flat because I simply couldn’t put it down. This is the first novel that I have read of Dawn Halliday’s but I am now in search of getting my hands on her other books as well! She is an absolutely joy to read! She pulls you into the story and doesn’t let go sending you along with the characters through intrigue, scandal, passion, danger and will leave you breathless! You feel as if you know the people intimately that your reading about and by the time your done you are left wanting more and sorry to see the book end. It is a true gift when an author can do that and Ms Halliday certainly has! I can’t wait to see more from this new author she has proved herself to me with this engrossing tale! I can easily see her name being up there with the likes of Moning, Howell, and Ranney in no time with books like these.
