Lusting for Covers: I've been Bitten

Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme, held on Sunday, by The Book Queen that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers.

Here's what you do:
1- Take the graphic (left) to use on your post. Remember to give credit to the original host (TBQ).

2- Choose your own book cover that you've fallen in "lust" with in the past week. It can be new, old, a reprint, or even a book that is not yet out-- it's all up to you! If you find a cover that catches your eye, then showcase it on your blog, and let others see the pretty covers out there.

3- Copy the direct link to your own L4C post into the comment section on my post (when in doubt, use this link and then scroll down to find the post), and allow others to come and see what you picked!
(OPTIONAL):

4- Besides posting the picture of the book cover you chose, it's nice to provide the book summary, title, author, or a website link for the book. It's not required, but it can help you readers' to add more books to their own list! A brief "Why I choose this cover" is also appreciated, but not required.

So here is my lustful cover for the week....

BITTEN BY CUPID

Blurbs:

Vampire Valentine by Lynsay Sands

Mirabeau LaRouche knew she had a job to do, but she never expected her assignment to take her through New York City′s dark, dank underground-in her bridesmaid gown, no less! And when her partner turns out to be mortal private investigator Tiny McGraw, Mireabeau knows it′s no ordinary Cupid′s arrow that has struck her heart this Valentine′s Day.

Hearts Untamed by Pamela Palmer

Ten years ago Zeeland left D.C. to join the Therian Guard, needing to put some distance between himself and the still-too-young Julianne. Now he′s returned, in the midst of a Valentine′s celebration to find Julianne more beautiful than ever, still angry at him for leaving, and up to her lovely eyebrows in an intrigue that threatens both of their immortal lives.

Kiss and Kill Cupid by Jamie Rush

Kat Morgan has no use for Valentine′s Day, since hearing other people′s thoughts puts a real damper on any kind of intimate relationship. When she overhears the Killer Cupid serial killer targeting her for his Valentine′s Day murder, Kat is terrified. But is Adrian, the one man whose thoughts she can′t hear, her savior, or killer?

Ok what's not to love here seriously it's a gorgeous cover and the woman is on top of a handsome man..... nuff said right! ;) But I will say also that how can you resist this great lineup of authors as well it's got it all!

Review: Naked Edge by Pamela Clare

Blurb:

What do you do when desire drives you to the very brink?

The day Navajo journalist Katherine James met Gabriel Rossiter, the earth literally moved beneath her feet. Nearly killed in a rockslide while hiking, she found her life in the tall park ranger’s hands. Although she can’t forget him she thinks she’ll never see him again. She is crushed when she recognizes her rescuer among the law enforcement officers raiding a sweat lodge ceremony one night, throwing her and her friends off Mesa Butte, land they consider sacred.

Gabe long ago swore he would never again lose himself to a woman—not even one with long dark hair and big eyes that seem to see right through him. But from the moment he first sees Kat, the attraction he feels is undeniable. Appalled by what he has been ordered to do, he’s determined to get to the bottom of recent events at Mesa Butte—and to keep Kat safe.

But asking questions can be dangerous—almost as dangerous as risking one’s heart. And soon Kat and Gabe’s passion for the truth—and each other—makes them targets for those who would do anything, even kill, to keep Native Americans off their sacred land…

Review:

Naked Edge is the fourth book in Pamela Clare’s romantic suspense I-Team Series. This is Katherine James’s story most of you who have read the series remember the introduction of Kat she is quite different than the other members of Denver Independent’s illustrious I-Team and I couldn’t wait to read her story! And it surely didn’t disappoint! Kat is half white and half Navajo and was raised by her Navajo grandmother on the reservation and because of this she lives her life by a whole different set of rules than her other reporting colleges. Kat is quiet and reserved but she’s also one heck of a reporter. She is deeply devoted in her job and she’s proud that her job in journalism has allowed her to speak out and be the voice of the Native American people and their causes and rights.

The book starts out with Kat having a very bad accident while out hiking. Luckily for Kat Gabe Rossiter a Boulder Mountain Parks Ranger was out rock climbing nearby and see’s Kat’s fall and rushes to her aid. (Note this incident was actually inspired by Ms. Clare’s own climbing accident that you would have to read about to believe. It’s a miracle that she survived just like Kat and I’m sure that is why this scene is doubly haunting and thrilling you can read more about her experience at her blog… http://pamelaclare.blogspot.com/2009/03/bit-about-gabe-rossiter-from-naked-edge.html) When Gabe reaches Kat she is in very bad shape but he quickly calls for help on his cell. He talks to her and keeps her focused and awake until help arrives.

When Kat is recovered from her accident and back at work she never thought that she would see the handsome man who saved her life but little did she know that destiny has much more in store for the both of them than either of them could have ever imagined. Kat goes to attend a sweat lodge at Mesa Butte – a site that has been sacred to her people for hundreds of years when the police suddenly show up and raid the peaceful ceremony. Gabe who was on duty at the park (and Mesa Butte is part of the park lands) responds as well when he hears about the disturbance and like Kat is outraged by the raid. This sort of ceremony was a common one and had been taking place on the Butte for as long as Gabe could remember so why suddenly are the police being called to the scene. Unfortunately this is only the beginning of the trouble… several days later Grandpa Red Crow one of the leaders in the Native American community in the area is found dead at the site, and Kat is convinced that he was murdered.

She and Gabe are both drawn deeper into the quickly dangerous spiral of events that takes place and both find that they are in mortal danger. Meanwhile they are both fighting the growing attraction between them. Gabe realizes that he is quickly falling for the courageous exotic beauty but Kat is far from a player she tells him that she doesn’t date but he is even more stunned to find out that because of her culture and the way that she was raised she is a virgin! Gabe is a ladies man and always has been so he is even more convinced that even though he is attracted to Kat that he would not be good for her. But will his heart listen as easily as his mind? Or will the people that are gunning for them silence them both before they ever have the chance to find out?

I won’t say anymore because I really don’t want to give away the secrets and great plot twists in this one. But I must say that from start to finish I was completely enthralled with this one! Note to all of you if you haven’t tried this series you are MAJORLY missing out on some very good reading not only is it hot but it’s riveting! Pamela Clare is amazing in this series she has created a world that is not only breathtaking with its passion and danger but with its deep layers about humanity and reality. I couldn’t put this one down it was absolutely a page turner. And the love story between Gabe and Kat is so beautiful and at times heart wrenching as well. And while I absolutely loved Hard Evidence and Unlawful Contact and thought they couldn’t be topped this one proved me wrong! I have to say I loved this one even more!

So do yourself a favor you definitely don’t want to miss this one! And though it is part of the I-Team series it works well as a stand alone as well but believe me once you try this you are going to want to run out and get the rest of the books as well! Every one of them is on my keeper shelf and this one is going there as well! :) I'm a huge fan of Pamela Clare's and have been since I picked up the first book by her trust me if you see Pamela Clare's name on the cover I guarantee you are in for a great read! :)

This book was provided to me free of charge in return for an honest review via Night Owl Romance. All thoughts and comments are my own honest opinions.

Review: Wild Instinct by Sarah McCarty

This is book number two in Sarah McCarty’s sexy werewolf series. I absolutely loved her first book in the series Running Wild as you saw with my glowing review but was wondering if this second one could live up to the drama and tender passion that was in the first one… and much to my pleasure it did! I am fast learning that anytime you see Sarah McCarty’s name you are in for a fabulous read no matter the genre.

This one starts off right where Running Wild left off (and while you wouldn’t have to read the first to like this one I believe it would make it much more enjoyable and some elements of the story will make more sense if you do). The fledgling sanctioned pack of Haven headed by now Alpha Wyatt Carmichael is finally getting off the ground. But the transition for the newly formed pack even with its legendary Protectors - Donovan and Kelon McGown has been anything but simple. Wyatt wants Haven to be just what its name implies for weres not only of full blood but also half bloods and outcasts from normal were pack society i.e. those with special powers and gifts telepaths, empaths and the like that normal packs view as dangerous and are either banished or killed because of their strange abilities. In doing so Wyatt has issued protection and pack status to a half blood werewolf Sarah Anne and her two children who are her’s by her late human husband (in other regular traditional packs they would be shunned because of this or even killed). Sarah Anne has been running for her life from a group of rogue werewolves along with her children and two of her closest friends another were with special powers Rachel and Teri a human who has been raped by the evil rogues that are chasing them and is pregnant as a result of that attack.

The heroes in this one are two half blood werewolves – Garrett (who also harbors special powers) and his longtime friend Curran and a very powerful and scarred ancient werewolf Daire who has many powers that most weres would never dream possible. These three are about to find their mates in the most unlikely of circumstances and people in the three women they are sent to find and bring safely back to Haven. This one has it all action, romance, tenderness, vengeance, hot erotic love scenes, and much, much more. I found myself on the edge of my seat several times and in tears yet again! She sure knows how to tug at the heart strings! All of the stories were wonderful but I found the story of Teri and Daire to be just amazing. Both have had such a hard life and have suffered so much to see them find their solace and true love finally in each others arms just made my heart melt!

Sarah McCarty is a master at her craft that’s all I can say she writes stories that draw you in to the point that you feel the characters emotions right along with them and you can’t wait to find out what happens on the next page because unlike some you never know what she is going to do next. I thoroughly enjoyed this second book and again even though it is an anthology you get to care so deeply for the characters even though they are not in their own full length novel. She definitely has penned the best two anthologies I’ve ever read in these two books.

I sincerely hope there are more books coming in this series and I’ll be first in line for them if there is. I’m also on a mission to find all the rest of Ms. McCarty’s books that I don’t have as of yet. I can’t wait to read more from her she is nothing short of amazing.

Kathleen Givens Remembered

It is with a sad heart that I read today about the sudden and tragic passing of the very talented author Kathleen Givens. She was a wonderful and poetic author who's stories captured your heart and made it soar. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this time.

You may read more about Kathleen here from her writing sisters at the Whine Sisters Blog. She will be sorely missed, but her words and stories will live on in our hearts and on our bookshelves.

Lusting for Covers

Lusting for Covers is a brand new weekly meme from the wonderful Book Queen at The Book Queen's Palace, held on Sunday, that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers.

4- Besides posting the picture of the book cover you chose, it's nice to provide the book summary, title, author, or a website link for the book. It's not required, but it can help you readers' to add more books to their own list! A brief "Why I choose this cover" is also appreciated, but not required.

I love this one TBQ!!!! I don't do a lot of Meme's but this one is a great idea as I'm a huge fan of covers and when I say huge I mean it I have bought many a book strictly because I couldn't resist the beautiful and or hunky cover lol. Let's face it weather you judge a book by it's cover or not it definitely does have a major influence in catching the readers eye and drawing you too the book in the first place (even if you know the author it's an unknown to you as yet). So without further ado here is my cover that I am lusting over this week! :)

Seducing the Rogue by Amanda Scott

Ok first just look at that handsome face, those eyes, that intense look it snagged me from the moment I saw it and I just wanted to find out more about this gorgeous man! I mean what's not to love about this one honestly? Doesn't he look like Adrian Paul??? That's who I immediately thought of so I was all in lol. I also love the beautiful blue plaid and the necklace on there as well it's just an all around beautiful cover in my opinion! :)

Review: Running Wild by Sarah McCarty

Running Wild is a three story anthology from author Sarah McCarty that takes on a new genre than most of her previous novels… the world of the paranormal, werewolves to be exact. Now I am a big fan of Sarah McCarty’s I have been ever since I read the first of her Promise’s Series (which is fabulous by the way) and I have to say I’m only a bigger fan of her writing now! I tell you from the start of this one I couldn’t put it down.

The three stars of this book are Donovan & Kelon McGowan and Wyatt Carmichael all three are werewolves and all three have longed to find their one true mate ,- the one woman who can fill the other half of their soul and make them complete in every way. But in a world where werewolves and human connections are forbidden can their newly found love thrive or even survive?

Wyatt is the local sheriff of the sleepy little town of Haven, Montana and Donovan (a Protector of the pack that they all belong too and also Wyatt's cousin)comes to visit Wyatt with news that he has to return to the pack as his father who is the leader of their pack is dying and Wyatt must in turn take is rightful place of Alpha and leader of the pack. Donovan didn’t expect to find the woman he had been searching for all his life (Lisa Delaney) to suddenly walk into the town’s sole entertainment venue (a combination bowling alley/bar/ pool hall) where he and Wyatt were talking… and he expected even less that the first thing that he would see her do would be to proceed to beat the living daylights out of a big man who wronged her sister with a pool cue! Donovan immediately comes to her aid when some of the man’s buddies appear to be turning far to interested in the proceedings and in Lisa. He knew from the moment that he saw her though that she was the one, the one that would be his mate his other half for the rest of his life and in the next. Now he just has to convince her of that fact, and keep her safe from Buddy (the jerk who misused her sister) and his less than stand up friends. But things go from bad to worse when someone tries to run Lisa and Donovan off the side of a cliff on the icy roads. Donovan is severely injured in the accident, but with his being wolf he quickly heals before Lisa’s very eyes. Can she accept what she has seen and even more can she overcome her shock and their differences enough to let their budding love grow? Or will the thugs who have been after Lisa and her sister Robin make good on their threats and destroy them all before they get the chance?

Kelon arrives in town when Wyatt has to return to their pack to see about his Father the pack. He was summoned by Donovan and Wyatt to help protect and defend Lisa and her very ailing sister Robin from the threats on their lives.

Kelon is Donovan’s brother and he has lived a long and stoic life. Donovan has long worried over his brother’s increasingly evasive and icy attitudes toward life in many ways. But all of that seems to change as soon as Kelon sets eyes on Robin Delaney! This fragile beauty immediate captures his heart and he knows as soon as he sees her that he has found his mate in her. But Robin is very gravely ill after having her second kidney transplant and she is showing signs yet again of rejection of the transplanted organ. Kelon can’t believe that he has found her only to learn that she is dying. Robin is resolved to her fate and has accepted it but Kelon is bound and determined to help her see that she has everything to fight and live and chief among those things is love… Meanwhile more things start to occur that point to their being an even more dangerous foe and possibly another even more dangerous threat to the Delaney sisters than just the local troublemakers that they thought were the problem. When Kelon finds clues that someone has been watching the house with more than just a camera (a high powered rifle he is sure) the wolf inside him roars even more to get to the bottom of the threat that could take the life of not only his new found love but her sister Lisa as well. Robin’s health continues to deteriorate and the third Delaney sister shows up to check on her and to see what she can do to help her sister. Heather Delaney is not only their older sister who has taken care of both Lisa and Robin since their parents deaths when she was 18 but she’s also an emergency room nurse and she knows better than anyone just what is coming with Robin’s condition.

Even more trouble comes to the fore when Kelon and Donovan can’t get a hold of Wyatt to see how things are going with the pack and they fear the worst might have happened as they know that he will be facing constant challenges by other males of the pack for supremacy (and those challenges are just mere fist fights wolves fight to the death in a challenge of power). So against all odds Lisa and Robin insist that they go and check on Wyatt and they are determined to go along for the ride and where they go so does Heather… and from the moment that she meets Wyatt Carmichael she knows that her life will never be the same. Wyatt and Heather are immediately drawn together but as the danger and challenges mount by the hour Wyatt is disheartened to think that he has finally found his one true mate only to have to wait to claim her for fear of not only leaving her a widow very early, but putting her own life in mortal danger as well. I won’t give away anymore of the secrets but this surely shows you how action packed and thrilling this book truly is not only as a romance but as a riveting adventure as well.

I absolutely LOVED this book. As I said I couldn’t put it down from the start which I admit is highly unusual for me with anthologies, I find with many anthologies that the stories are often just not developed enough in the small amount of each story to get very involved with the characters as you can on a full sized novel but not so here! Not only does she prove here that she is a stellar historical romance author but she has proven that she can build intricate new worlds of danger, romance, and wild hot Alpha heroes in the paranormal field as well! But these Alpha males turn into absolute gentle giants within the arms of their lady loves. And Sarah McCarty continues to amaze me with the depth of emotion and breathtaking situations that she creates. I cried several times in this one which is another unusual for me. I might get tears in my eyes sometimes but rarely do I have the tears roll freely and they did several different times in this one. The story of Robin and Kelon just had me in awe truly … I was in love right along with them. Ms. McCarty broke my heart and put it back together counts times with this one and managed to make me love every second of it. Beautiful, exciting, heatbreaking, and so hot it will set your fingers on fire - this one is a total keeper and I can’t wait to dive into book two in this series!
