Guest: Cherish D'Angelo New Novel and contest!
Today we have a special guest - Author Cherish D'Angelo - who's new book Lancelot's Lady is hot off the press! Without further ado take it away Cherish!
A Day in the Life of Romance
Author Cherish D'Angelo - Part One
Thank you for hosting me during my Cherish the Romance Virtual Book Tour, which launches my contemporary romantic suspense, Lancelot's Lady. People are always curious about what a day in my life as a romance author looks like, so today I'm going to tell you that my life is the ultimate fantasy and I'm happy to share it with you.My day usually starts with waking up. Doesn't yours? I awake in my plush king size bed to the sounds of birds tweeting outside my balcony, and I immediately remove my satin padded eye mask (I love a dark room) and check to see what time it is. What, only 10:45? Hmmm, it's early. My husband left for work hours ago and won't be back until supper time. I'll get dressed a half hour before he returns.
Sliding into a lush satin robe the color of lavender―a gift from my friend, actress Eva Mendes―I head downstairs where Juanita, my wonderful housekeeper, has made coffee and pastries. There's a fruit plate out on the patio, waiting for me, and some of that yoghurt dip I love. Juanita passes me my coffee in a huge mug, with a splash of vanilla and cream just the way I like it. Juanita's husband Juan is standing beyond the patio, trimming the rosebushes. I do hope he shapes the lilac trees soon; they're looking a bit wild.
I nibble on the fruit as I drink my coffee. Should I splurge and have a pastry? What a decision! But there's really no choice, so I grab a cheese croissant and slather it with fresh churned butter. As I think of the scenes I'll write today in my latest romance novel, I watch Julio―Juanita and Juan's son. He's about twenty-five and is in college. Since they live with us in the cottage out back, Julio does odd jobs around the house and is in charge of the pool. Today Julio is cleaning the pool, skimming the top of the surface with the net. That young man works out. I can see his muscles, all bronzed and gleaming, rippling with each movement.
I let out a sigh, wishing to be young again. Then I finish my coffee, while Juanita brings me my laptop. My assistant, Lisa, has already weeded through my emails and I only get the good stuff, like reviews, sales stats, fan mail. I check my emails and answer nine from fans, plus one from my agent. He's just signed a three book deal for me with a major publisher, and it comes with a hefty $1.2 million advance. Even better, he's sent me a royalty summary for the past quarter and sales of my last novel have quadrupled since last quarter.
My publisher's sales team have been hitting the marketing hard and heavy, allowing me all the time in the world to do what I love―write. My sales team checks my Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc and replies accordingly. They take care of everything else. They booked an online tour for me with 50 hosts. I have five television interviews and seven radio interviews booked for next week, not to mention New York Times wants to do a feature piece on me for next month's issue. Note to self: get hair and nails done the day before. Vidal will squeeze me in even though it's short notice...
You can read more about a day in the life of me, Cherish D'Angelo, by visiting Book Junkie on October 1st for Part Two.

Having gone to a few conferences, meeting authors is a little nerve wrecking but something I love. I like being able to show my appreciation for books I truly like.

Thank you, SiNn and JM.
Meeting an author is really like meeting anyone else you don't know well. We're just people.
Ok, yes our minds do work a bit differently--we see stories in everything. So don't tell us you grew up on Devil's Island.
Some authors are more terrified of meeting readers. Not me! I love meeting new people. :-)
I haven't met any authors in person, but there seem to be more and more events happening so I'll most likely make my way to some of them.
lenikaye@yahoo.com
Leni, I hope you do get a chance to meet some authors in your area. A signed book can be a real treasure. I have quite a few from my favorite authors. :-)
Also, I noticed the Kaye in your email address. My maiden name is Kaye.
Cheers!
Cherish
great post.
I have not met any author in person but I would love to.(I have soap stars but that's another story.lol)

I love meeting authors in person because you get to know more about them as well as the characters in their books. Sometimes you are even lucky enough to get exclusive tidbits on up coming books and/or sequels to existing books. I was lucky enough to meet Richelle Mead, Melissa Marr, And Lara Adrian. I would not trade that experience for anything in the world.
What a fantastic giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity, I would love to be entered into your giveaway.

Hi elaing8, how cool that you've met some soap stars. I'd love to meet anyone from Days of Our Lives...hehe (that's my guilty pleasure.)
I have however met Stephen J. Cannell (producer/writer), Michael Chiklis (actor), Eva Avila (Canadian Idol winner)and some others. Good luck in today's draws.
Skyla, it sounds like you've had some great experiences meeting authors. :-) You are now entered in today's draws. Good luck!

This book sounds great!
I used to work in a bookstore and have met several authors in person. Every time it was a great experience.
romancejunkie@live.com
You obviously write good fiction. This piece is a great example. (If is is true, my apologies and congratulations.) I have met a few authors at signings and a few library visits. If they aren't busy, there have been pleasant visits.
Good luck with the release of LANCELOT'S LADY.
great post!
I've never met an author in person... I would love to meet some though.
