Review: Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley

I couldn't believe my luck when I got to review Pride Mates already! I got really lucky and got it from Night Owl Romance whom I review for. From the first time I saw the cover I was salivating to get my hands on this one so when I saw it up for the taking I pounced on it LOL!

This is book one the brand new Shifters Unbound series by the very talented Jennifer Ashley, and my friends it is awesome! I have often been amazed at the very different worlds that Ms. Ashley seems to so effortlessly create, (and she writes in many different genres under her own name and several pen names as well) and my friends I think she has outdone herself again with this one! The world has only known that Shifters walk among us in the human world for 20 years now, and there are still many prejudices against them, and fears abound. They are forced to wear Collars like animals to control their instincts and to keep them “docile” but even with these measures they are reviled and shunned by many and forced to live in towns apart from the regular population known as Shiftertowns. But attorney Kim Fraser is no wilting flower and when she is put on the case of a shifter who is accused of murdering his human girlfriend she is bound and determined to get to the truth. Kim is convinced that the shifter (Brian) is innocent of the crime, and she won’t stop until she uncovers what really happened and frees Brian.

And to do that Kim sets out to the very intimidating and very taboo area of Shiftertown to meet with one of the local Shifters trusted leaders Liam Morrissey. Little did Kim expect to find that Liam Morrissey was Mr. Tall, Dark, Drop Dead Gorgeous! Even more surprising is the fact that Kim is immediately drawn to Liam and not just for his sexy looks but for his caring and fiercely loyal and courageous persona.

Liam is the eldest son of Dylan Morrissey who is the head of the Austin Shiftertown and as such he is the best bet Kim has to get into the world of the Shifters and try to find out not only more about their culture and what makes them tick, how they live and think etc. and by doing thus she will have a better idea of how to build Brian’s defense. The sparks immediately fly between Liam and Kim and by several surprising turn of events Kim finds herself put under the protection and “marked” by Liam. Liam never expected to fall in love especially with a human but the more he is around Kim the more he wants her for his own. But there is someone that wants to see Brian go down no matter the cost, and Kim with him if she persists in pushing forward with the case. And that's not all there is the rash of Feral Shifters (those who haven't taken the collar) who have been causing major mayhem and death, plus the head over all the local Shiftertowns Fergus (who is a major baddie and not in a good way) is causing trouble for both the Morriseys and Kim (whom he wants for his own). Can Liam protect Kim from whoever is out to get her? And could this sexy strong human woman be the perfect mate for Liam? Could it be that even though they are from two totally different worlds that they will find that their hearts don’t care?

This one has it all it is full of suspense, passion, adventure and strong characters that you will be dying to see again and again. There are all kinds Shifters to enjoy in the series - felines wolves, and bears oh my! (Sorry I just couldn’t resist but honestly this one is not cheesy in any way shape or form. ) Jennifer Ashley has really created a fascinating new world full of unforgettable characters that will make any readers inner cat purr… If you love a hot paranormal romance with very hot alpha males you are going to love this one!

I fell in love with Liam right off and his brother Sean is no slouch either let me hasten to say (I’m dying to see find his own love soon I hope in upcoming books) and Dylan and Conner and their friend Ellison (who is a funny and sexy wolf shifter) so there are plenty of sexy shifters stories still to come! I loved it and will eagerly be awaiting the next one!!! :)

Finally Back, + Pride Mates, and I'm an Outlander baby..

Hi there everyone sorry it took me so long to get back to blogging. We had a good Thanksgiving here and I hope you all did too. Though I missed mom terribly it made it a lot easier going to my husband's parents for dinner that night. Thank you all for your kind words, prayers, and thoughts I appreciate them and you all so much. I'm probably not going to get to my regular blog hopping again until Monday but hope to get all caught up then.
I did get a lot of reading done over the holiday rereading Outlander (can't get enough of Jamie hehe) and finished up Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley. OH MAN you guys are going to LOVE this new Shifter series by Ashley it was awesome!!! And Liam ooooo he's gonna have every woman purring believe you me. ;) I hope to get the review done and up for it by Monday as well. But I will go ahead and say I foresee this book and the forthcoming series is going to be a big hit for Jennifer Ashley. I know I can't wait to get my hands on the next one! :)

So for a little preview and to learn more about the shifters, excerpts, (and a message from Liam) you can visit her site here...

And I want to send out a huge thank you to all of you who have been signing up for the Outlander Reading Challenge! We have 25 participants signed up now wooohooo!!! (It just started on Nov. 17th and doesn't end until next year on Nov. 17th so there is still plenty of time to join in the fun!) If you have been wanting to read the series this is a perfect chance to take the plunge through the stones! :) I am so enjoying my second time through the series. It's made me remember from the very first chapter why Diana Gabaldon is such a fabulous story teller she grabs you from the first and once you start these you just can't put them down! Oh yeah I'm an Outlander fan gal for life and proud of it AYE!

I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend and I promise to be back to my regular scheduled bloggin and visiting God willing Monday. :)

Being Thankful

Its that time of year again when we are all gearing up for the big Thanksgiving feast with loved ones and friends. This year is very bittersweet for me and I have to admit I'm not feeling very festive at all and I think that's why I haven't been very chatty or making my rounds lately like I normally would. So you all please forgive me and I say this so that you all will know why I suddenly seem a little less there than normal and not myself etc. Some of you may know this some of you may not but I lost my mother earlier this year after a very long illness. And while I know that she is now in a better place and not hurting anymore which I am very thankful for indeed. I do miss her and as the holidays are coming up I find that it's hitting me again that she's not here anymore.

But I still have many, MANY things to be thankful for, and for which I thank God for each and everyday. My wonderful husband and son, my friends, our homes, all of the frivolous blessings that we have and enjoy that we don't need but that make our lives more fun, and this year something new as well - YOU my new blogger friends!

I just want to say a big thank you to all of you for sharing my days and some of my favorite things with me. You all have made this year a lot easier for me. But please do remember to spend all the time you can with your loved ones while they are still with you and you have time. Enjoy them and tell them you everyday how much they mean to you. :) And as some of you may be traveling soon I wanted to go ahead and post this early so you could see it. I wish you all a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving! May God bless you and yours throughout the rest of this year and in the coming one as well. :)

Mondays Suck and not in a good way...

Yep well it has certainly been a Monday in every since of the word today lol. I'm with Garfield on this one I think they should be outlawed as a weekday. LOL So I'm not much in a blogging mood today I'm afraid but wanted to share something that did make me feel a bit better when I saw it and hopefully brighten your day as well. ;) See ya tomorrow when hopefully I shall be feeling more chatty. :)

Review: Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs

This is the first novel by Molly Harper and it is not your normal vampire book. Think of it as a mix of Janet Evanovich meets Sookie Stackhouse and you’re getting close to what delights await you! Now do you think that you have ever had a bad day? I a really bad day? Well meet Jane Jameson who is having the day from H-E-Double hockey sticks on a stick…. First she is fired from her job (out of the blue) as the children’s librarian at the local library. And instead of a severance check - she is handed a 25 dollar gift certificate for potato skins at a local bar. Now that’s class right? The only halfway decent thing that happens to Jane in fact is that she meets a dark handsome stranger while at the bar cashing in her severance ah er skins... Then while Jane is driving home (after getting good and tipsy) her car breaks down. Just one more thing that could and did go wrong today right? But little did Jane realize that her night is about to take a turn for the very worst! But it can’t possibly get any worse you say? OH yes my friends it can and it does…

While she is hoofing it down the dark and rural road toward home she is mistaken by a drunk redneck for a deer. And what would any good hunter do? He whips out his rifle and shoots Jane! Not the way Jane wanted to die and the perfect end to the perfect bad day. But that wasn’t the end of Jane after all... for three days later she awakens in the home of the handsome man from the bar (Gabriel Nightengale) to find that he is a vampire and that she too is now a member of the Undead! Needless to say all that Jane thought she knew is turned upside down and pitched out like yesterday’s dishwater.

You then follow Jane throughout her transition into the world of the Newly Undead. Along for the ride are the Ghost of her dead Aunt that she didn’t know was haunting her house, her best friend that upon learning Jane is a vampire stabs her, and her family which makes almost makes the Simpsons look normal. Oh yeah and you won’t believe the trouble she lands herself into when she tries to integrate into the undead community! Jane Jameson’s life was rather plain up until she died, but her after life is going to be anything but…

Ms. Harper has created a true gem in the rural community of Half Hollow KY, and a cast of characters and secondary characters that you won’t soon forget! Her writing is fresh, down to earth, and just down right hilarious. I lost count of how many times I found myself laughing and chuckling while reading this one. So if you want to read a book and have a great time throughout, and laughs galore as well? This is the book for you! For me it was like Stephanie Plum with fangs! You keep thinking I wonder what in the world is going to happen to her next! LOL

I saw this one on the shelf at a recent trip to Books-a-Million and the cover was initially what caught my eye as well as the snappy and fun title! Everyone that knows me knows I’m a sucker for vampires, but this is one that I was very pleasantly surprised by-I thought it might be a fun little read and it turned out to be a whole lot more. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next one! So if you are a fan of funny books and a vamp fan you will really love this one!

New books for me! Happy Dance :)

I had a great week so far of new books coming my way so I thought I would share what I got in my mailbox and some that I purchased the last week or two here. Some great new reads that I am dying to dive right into, and of course I'll be sharing my thoughts on them after I finish them! :)

First off from Night Owl Romance for me to review and I was jumping up and down when I got them : Desiring the Highlander by Michele Sinclair, Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley, and Wild Instinct by Sarah McCarty!

Books I purchased: Running Wild by Sarah McCarty - (it's book one in her werewolf series so when I got Wild Instinct I had to get this one so I could get the whole story hehehe) And Going Rogue by Sarah Palin. I don't care what anyone says about her, or how the much the media wants to try to crucify her, I love this lady! She is a smart conservative powerhouse who just happens to share a TON of the same values that I hold dear myself and I think she's awesome! :) I so wish I could go and see her on her book tour but the closest she is coming to TN is Birmingham, AL sniff sniff.

Oh and I just finished Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper earlier today and will hopefully have the review up on that tomorrow or by the weekend at least if RL allows lol. Great little book I can't wait to read the others. Picture Janet Evanovich's writing style with vampires it's great! Ok time for you all to tell me what you all got this week or are looking forward to getting soon! :)

Would any of you like to join me in this?

Review: An Echo in the Bone

This is book seven in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. I have loved the Outlander series from the very first book, and so I was ecstatic to get to read new adventures with my beloved Jamie and Claire. Now I am limited here as to what I can say because there are many happenings that will be big surprises in this one but I will do my best not to let any cats out of any bags!

I can say that you will follow along as Jamie and Claire are immersed in the battles of the American Revolution, with Jamie and Ian are in the fighting and Claire in the role of a surgeon tending to the wounded. Such historic battles and settings such as Ticonderoga and Saratoga just to name a couple, and there are many cameos by legends of the Revolution including Benedict Arnold, Benjamin Franklin, General Howe and many, many more. Gabaldon has such a talent for writing her stories that you feel that you are not just reading along, but you are there with them running through the smoke on the battlefield. You feel the fear smell the gunpowder. If you have read her before you will know what I mean and if you haven’t you are in for a big treat.

You will also see more of Jamie and Claire’s daughter Bree and her husband- Roger and their kids in this one. I really love their story and I have enjoyed them in all the previous books as well. You see them maturing and coming more into their own in this one while struggling with the heartache of missing Jamie and Claire and their lives in the past with them on Fraser’s Ridge. They also have the bitter sweetness of learning more of what happened to their family through their letters that they left behind for them to find after they returned to the 1980’s. But can Bree and Roger deal with what they find in those letters? And can their knowledge of time travel have dire consequences for them all?

We also learn and see a lot more of Jamie’s son William in this one as he has taken a commission with the British Army and is in America fighting for the King. But will he meet up with someone that he knows across the deadly fields of battle? If you are a fan of Lord John he is back as well and plays a major role in the story. (I’m not a big fan of his and I don’t know why on this earth with all the wonderful side characters she has created that she has to focus so much on this one but I digress lol) There are many new characters that are introduced that I found fascinating as well especially Rachel and Denzell Hunter, two Quakers whom are ironically members of the Continental Army. Denzell being a surgeon and Rachel his sister (who refused to let him go alone) is acting as a field nurse. I really hope to see more of them in the next novel as well.

This was a very good engaging and shocking book lol. I enjoyed it immensely and Diana shows why she is a multi best selling author. No One and I mean no one can top her in her historical vibrancy and detail. She is a master at her craft, weaving a story that will break your heart and mend it again all in the space of a few paragraphs.

Several loose ends and conflicts from the previous books are neatly brought to the forefront and resolved (sometimes with very shocking consequences however). You have been warned this one is going to shock you several times! (some may even say she came dangerously close to jumping the shark one time there but I can understand in one way why she did it as well) When I got done I was sitting there with an open mouth going oh my stars!!! So if you are a fan of the series you certainly don’t want to miss this latest adventure! I can’t wait to see what Gabaldon has up her sleeve for the next one!

I received this book to review from NOR and I purchased one copy myself. :)

*Shameless promotion time don't forget to sign up for the Outlander reading challenge! :) And let's relive the romance and adventure together!*

Interview: Alexandra Ivy and a Guardian Giveaway

Today we have a very special guest with us, the very talented and fangalious Alexandra Ivy! She is the best selling author of the Guardians of Eternity series. And if you are a vampire romance lover like me, you have to read these books if you haven't already! ;) So without further ado let's get this interview started!

JJ: Hello Alexandra! It’s so good to have you join us today! Could you please start by tell us a little about yourself?

AI: Like most writers I started off as an avid reader. During college I turned my creative interests toward theatre and enjoyed several years of summer stock theatre as well as playwriting, before I returned my interest to writing. Of course, it took another ten years of struggling to have my first book published. I’ve always been more a tortoise than a hare.

JJ: Alexandra tell us about your latest release in the Guardians of Eternity Series (Darkness Unleashed)?

AI: A scarred recluse, Jagr makes no secret of his disdain for others' company. But now, as a member of Chicago's powerful vampire clan, he has certain obligations to fulfill. The latest: track down a missing were pureblood and return her to her sister. The problem: Regan Garrett has no intention of complying. And though Jagr agreed not to harm an inch of this stubborn female's distractingly tempting body, he'll gladly kiss her into submission, awakening an urge he hasn't felt in years. Hell, in centuries...Regan vowed never to be at the mercy of another man. That goes double for arrogant, steel-muscled vampires with eyes of ice. All Regan wants is revenge against those who imprisoned her. She doesn't need an ally. She certainly doesn't need a mate. But soon Regan will have to choose - between a lust for vengeance, and a passion as dark and dangerous as the night...

JJ: Can you also share with us some of the unique things about the Guardian’s Universe for those that might not have gotten the chance to read the books before.

AI: In my universe the vampires have no memories of their previous lives and after a long history of brutal clan wars, they are currently attempting to become more civilized as a race, although not all vampires are on board with the changes. I’ve also introduced Werewolves who are struggling against extinction.

JJ: I LOVE your take on the vamp world and the introduction of the werewolves as well! That being said I was wondering would you let one of your vamps bite you?And if so which one? I’ve always wanted to ask that question lol. Would you ever turn into a vamp if given the chance if that were possible?

AI: I fall in love with all my heroes and I would absolutely let them bite me! In fact, I might do some biting myself. And I have to admit I’m not sure about whether I would want to turn into a vampire. Like any choice there are good and bad points about such an existence. Of course, the never aging thing would ROCK!

JJ: Some may know this while others might not you also write historical romance as Deborah Raleigh. Could you tell us some about your writing going on there as well.

AI: My latest book, Seduce Me By Christmas, just came out in October under the name Deborah Raleigh. It’s the last in a trilogy about three friends who are searching for the truth of the pasts. Like my paranormals there is always a bit of humor in the books and a mystery.

JJ: Alex what is your all time favorite book that you have read or books if your like me I can never choose just one lol?

AI: I’m not kidding when I say the list is endless. I have sooooo many fav authors, and I read so many different genres. Just off the top of my head I would say Georgette Heyer, Agatha Christie, Oscar Wilde, Robert Jordan, Amanda Quick, Janet Evanovich, Ilona Andrews, Kim Harrison, JR Ward, Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance… Okay, you get the idea. :)

JJ: Did you always want to be an author?

AI: Off and on. I sometimes wanted to be an actress, a playwright, and for a few years I worked as an activity director at a local college, which I loved, but I was always writing.

JJ: Who are some of your biggest influences in writing?

AI: I think because of my years in theatre some of my greatest influences have come from the stage. I love the clever wit of Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward, and Neil Simon. That’s probably why I can’t seem to write the dark, angsty books that sell so well!

JJ: What is a typical writing day like for you Alex?

AI: I’ve learned over the years that I can never predict what the day will bring, so I get up early and do an hour to an hour and half of exercising. That way I don’t have an excuse not to do it later. :) Then I spend an hour or so on the computer answering email and updating my various sites. After that I go to my office (or Troll Hole as my sons call it) and I start writing. Occasionally poke my head out to do enough housework to stay ahead of disaster and prepare dinner, but I usually spend ten to twelve hours a day writing.

JJ: Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?

AI: No, I usually have the tv on, but I’m never paying attention. It’s just background noise.

JJ: If you could be one of your characters – Who would you be? And why?

AI: I really liked Shay! She was just so kick ass. It would be great to have that kind of strength and courage. :)

JJ: Is there a genre of book (and or setting or both lol) you would like to write but haven't yet?

AI: I’ve actually thought of an Urban Fantasy I would love to write. It’s always about time…sigh. It just goes by too fast.

JJ: OOO you really should try that you would be fabulous at it!!!

JJ: Do you ever find it hard at times to write love scenes?

AI: Absolutely. Capturing the excitement and passion of a love scene is always difficult. Sometimes you get too caught in describing the physical act and forget that it’s more about the emotion than the simple touch.

JJ: What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?

AI: All of the above!

JJ: Alexandra do you ever use real life actors or actresses as how you see your characters when you write in your head? I know I personally see them as the main characters a lot in the books I read when I’m reading them so I was just wondering if authors do that as well when they are writing them?

AI: Only visually. I try not to think of them as people or it starts to influence the character I’m trying to create.

JJ: And before we go here hon anything else you want to share feel more than free to do so. :)

AI: Darkness Unleashed is the fifth book in the Guardian series. Book six, Beyond the Darkness, should be hitting the shelves in April! And I’m happy to give away a copy of Darkness Unleashed! :)

JJ: Wonderful! Ok ladies you heard Ms. Ivy be sure to leave your comments and questions here to this post and be entered in the drawing for a copy of Darkness Unleashed!!!

Alex thank you so much for being here with us its been a true honor having you here. You are an amazing author and an even more amazing lady in RL. :)

AI: Thanks, Jenn!!

Interview: Anna Campbell & Giveaway of SIN!

Today we have a very special guest with us, tis the fabulous Anna Campbell! Anna I'm so excited to have you here today! Thank you so much for being here. :)

JJ: Anna could you start out by telling us a little about yourself?

AC: Hi Jennifer! Thank you for inviting me to play here at Sapphire Romance Realm. I’m an Aussie and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland (which I’m sure sounds wonderful to Northern Hemisphere people going into winter!). I’m now a full-time writer although I’ve had a lot of different jobs during my long apprenticeship, most recently as a captioner for the Deaf on TV programs. I love to travel and I’m a bit of a music nut.

JJ: That is fascinating and congratulations on both being a full time writer (more great books for your fans including me lol) and for being a captioner for the deaf I think that is wonderful! :) Could you please tell us about your latest release?

AC: CAPTIVE OF SIN is a marriage of convenience story with a twist. My stories always have a twist, LOL! It’s about famous hero, Sir Gideon Trevithick, who stumbles upon a runaway heiress on his way to his beautiful home Penrhyn on the Cornish cliffs. What follows is a story full of emotion and drama. You can read the blurb and an excerpt here: http://www.annacampbell.info/captivesin.html

JJ: Gideon sounds like quite the man I can’t wait to get up close and personal with him! ;) I have no doubt that it’s an outstanding read just like all your other novels.

JJ: Anna what is your all time favorite book?

AC: Oh, that would be like asking me to pick a favorite child. Not to mention it changes hourly. I think right now it’s probably PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. You can’t go past Mr. Darcy, can you? If you’re asking me about my favorite romance novels, I’d probably say LORD OF SCOUNDRELS by Loretta Chase, FLOWERS FROM THE STORM by Laura Kinsale and A COUNTESS BELOW STAIRS by Eva Ibbotson.

JJ: And what would be that special book that you have written yourself do you have a personal favorite?

AC: Oh, that’s even worse than picking my favorite child! What tough questions you ask, Miss Jennifer! They’re all dear to me. I absolutely loved Gideon in this book – he’s so brave and honorable, a real knight in shining armor, and boy, does that poor fellow suffer! Got a soft spot for a tortured hero. And I’ve always loved marriage of convenience stories, right from when I started reading Harlequin Mills & Boons as a wee filly.

JJ: I love tortured heroes as well I think they are the best kind aren’t they we want to heal them! Did you always want to be an author?

AC: Always. I always loved books and I quickly developed a desire to do what these wonderful authors did. It took me a long time – I finished writing my first historical romance when I was 17 then it was 27 years between that and when I sold CLAIMING THE COURTESAN. Clearly I’m a slow learner!

JJ: What was your first published work and when was it published?

AC: My first published work was CLAIMING THE COURTESAN which came out in April 2007. The wonderful Stephanie Laurens gave me a wonderful quote and called the book ‘Regency noir’ which I think is a fabulous description for my writing. I like touches of gothic and lots of dark and tumultuous emotion in my stories!

JJ: Lots of emotion and gothic is always good in my book! :)
Anna what are some of your biggest influences in writing?

AC: Great question, Jennifer! Actually I think the biggest influences are the fairy stories of my earliest childhood. I love the deep themes and the way justice is always served at the end. Not to mention the fact that our wonderful heroine gets her prince! I’ve always been a voracious reader so I guess you could say everything I’ve read has influenced me.

JJ: What is a typical writing day like for you?

AC: I’m an odd bod. I get up ridiculously early (I mean RIDICULOUSLY) and check email and places like Facebook. Depending on what my schedule is like, I’ll either work on the current story or promotion or a mixture of both until about 11am and then I stop for a couple of hours for a break. I go back in the afternoon and that’s usually work time on the book. I almost always frighten the postman because he catches me in my pajamas! I try to fit in a walk or a swim or both most days just to loosen up the kinks that you get from sitting at the computer. I’m lucky, I live very close to the sea so there’s lots of lovely places to wander and clear the head.

JJ: What kind of research do you do for your books? And do you enjoy the research process?

AC: I adore research. So much so that I have to be careful that I don’t use it as an excuse not to write! There’s always some fascinating tidbit that might turn into the kernel for a new book. For example in TEMPT THE DEVIL, Olivia’s character sprang into my mind so vividly when I read about a courtesan in the Victorian era who was a magnificent horsewoman. She would have herself sewn into her riding habit so she presented her figure to best advantage to future protectors when she was out cantering around Hyde Park. That seemed to me just so cool! Luckily by now, I have a pretty good general knowledge of the Regency. But there’s usually something particular for a story I need to brush up on. With CAPTIVE OF SIN, it was the East India Company. Gideon is on his way back from India when he runs into Charis and her evil stepbrothers and the back story about what happened to him there is really germane to the rest of the book.

JJ: Do you like to listen to music while you are writing and if so what kind?

AC: I always listen to music. Usually I have the radio on the national classical station here in Australia. I can’t listen to stuff with words (even in a foreign language) when I’m writing because it plays havoc with the voices in my head. And yes, I know that sounds absolutely crazy!

JJ: Not at all I can see how that would be distracting. :)

If you could be one of your characters – Who would you be? And why?

AC: Ha ha! Not sure I’d like to be one of my characters, at least during the story. Maybe afterwards. They all go through such travails to get their happy endings! Although ending up in the arms of one of my heroes sounds OK to me! So any of my heroines would be my choice!

JJ: LOL! I love it. :) Is there a genre of book (and or setting or both lol) you would like to write but haven't yet?

AC: I love writing historicals and the late Regency gives me such scope for different stories, not to mention readers love this setting. I do have an idea for a Viking book set in northern Scotland percolating away. Maybe one day. And I’d also love to write a romantic comedy or two before I’m done. Regency comedies are so delicious – all that wit!

JJ: OOO I love that idea Vikings in Scotland that would be very exciting! But you are right Regencies do have such a great setting and the wit is definitely a plus and who can resist a good comedy! :)

JJ: Anna who is your perfect hero? And why?

AC: I know a lot of men who are heroic in real life but I think I might play it safe and go back to PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. I love Mr. Darcy – and clearly I’m not Robinson Crusoe there! I love the way he grows through the story so by the end he’s perfect for Lizzie.

JJ: Do you ever find it hard to write love scenes?

AC: Um, I don’t know what this says about me, but NO! I love the way the characters are naked emotionally as well as physically in a love scene. I love the way a good love scene raises the stakes in a story.

JJ: What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?

AC: Oh, I’m all over the place. You can email me on anna@annacampbell.info. I have a website which I update every month at http://www.annacampbell.info/ and there’s a guestbook attached to that at: http://www.a-free-guestbook.com/guestbook.php?username=annacampbell I’m on Facebook far too much and also on MySpace. I blog with the Romance Bandits, a rowdy group of 2006 Golden Heart finalists, both published and unpublished. It’s a really fun site so check it out if you haven’t been there before: http:.//romancebandits.blogspot.com You can also catch me on my HarperCollins page: http://www.harpercollins.com/author/microsite/?authorid=31961

JJ: Anna do you ever use real life actors or actresses as how you see your characters when you write in your head? I know I personally see them as the main characters a lot in the books I read when I’m reading them so I was just wondering if authors do that as well when they are writing them?

AC: I usually start out with an actor and actress who serve as a physical model for my hero and heroine. To give you an example, in TEMPT THE DEVIL, Olivia’s looks were based on Lauren Bacall and Erith was like Bryan Ferry in the 1980s. In CLAIMING THE COURTESAN, Verity looked like Olivia Hussey in Romeo and Juliet and Kylemore was like Daniel Day-Lewis in Last of the Mohicans (although a bit more elegantly dressed!). As I write the book, the hero and heroine turn into their own characters and the similarity to their original models becomes less and less obvious.

JJ: That is awesome! What great choices and I can certainly see how they would inspire your writing especially Daniel Day! LOL ;)

AC: Jenn, Thanks for the great questions! And I’d like give away a signed copy of CAPTIVE OF SIN.

JJ: Wonderful! So guys be sure to post your questions and or comments for Anna here for a chance to win that signed copy of SIN! Anna thank you so much for taking the time to be with us today it has been a pure delight having you here! :)

AC: Thanks again for asking me. This will be fun!

Anyone up for a challenge?

I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now and while reading An Echo in the Bone it has only fortified my thoughts of doing this...

Would anyone be interested if I started a reading challenge to read (or re-read in many cases) the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon? I have been really shocked that many people still haven't given the first one a try yet and I do love to promote my faves and this series has always been a big favorite of mine. I've never actually taken part in a reading challenge before so this would be new to me but I thought it could be a lot of fun!
So let me know what ye think if some of you would like this I just might put up a second blogger thingy and start that bad boy! :)

To Kindle or not to Kindle that is the question!!!

I'm sure all book lovers have seen the e book craze that seems to be going on in the last couple of years. Many authors have their books available digitally now and while I think that is awesome I'm still a bit iffy about taking the plunge and getting an e-reader. Call me old fashioned (and yes I admit that I am in many ways) but I don't think I would like it as well as having a real book in my hands it just doesn't seem to be as fun to me to curl up with a lil electric screen, as it does with a good paperback in my hands. Plus with a book you don't have to remember to recharge or you can't read because you forgot to... and what if something happens to the ereader do you loose all your books you had bought or is there a backup feature etc.?

One of the major reason's I'll admit that I haven't risked trying it at least yet is the staggering cost of these lil wonders. Anywhere from $299 to upwards of almost $500 for a good one ACCKKK. LOL That just made me cringe when I started checking prices, and said well there went that idea lol. But I could start saving my pennies for one. :)

SO here is where I'm asking for help. Someone that knows about these things could you help me out here and tell me what you like and or dislike about them. I wanna hear what you all think on this subject. :)

Teaser Tuesday and why is that?

TEASER TUESDAYS ask you to:

•Grab your current read.
•Let the book fall open to a random page.
•Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
•You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
•Please avoid spoilers!

Ok so here is where I confess that I'm still reading An Echo in the Bone *Hangs head in shame* not that its not a great book it's just long and not one that I'm going to hurry through because I love Diana Gabaldon's writing!!! I'm on page 471 so have a bit to go still but it's been very interesting so far. I will say that I'm a wee dissappointed that Lord John and Willie are major focuses in this novel more than I think they should be. Did anyone else that has read this or been reading it have this thought? I know Willie is Jamie's son but he's more focused on even that Bree in this one. Plus I'm so not a Lord John fan I haven't read his series and I don't ever intent too. I've never liked him since he made his first appearance in the series. That is one thing I will say about the Outlander series that has always made me go WHY???LOL. I don't see why she focuses on him so much, and why on earth with all the great characters from this series he was the one that got his own side series??? Boggles my mind it does lassies lol.

Anyway I'll hush now and do my teaser here it is.... the book falls open to page 705 .....

Here are my two sentences ..

"You can't leave," I whispered, urgent. "I know Jamie."

He opened his eyes then an d looked at me, eyes dark with anguish.

ACKKKKK oh no!!! Now I must read faster to see what has happened to my beloved Jamie!!! Drat I would see something like that and freak myself out lol!

So that is a bit why I haven't posted lately also the fact of Halloween and I spent it hanging out with my boys. We did enjoy here though we didn't get to go on the Hayride at the Church Weenie roast this year it was just too cold! It got down in the thirties here UGH. It's been Unusually cold here this year so far. I hope all of you had a great holiday weekend!
